The week started badly on the MarshLink with engineering work from the weekend overrunning. We received this communication from Southern:
I happen to be on call and have been told that Network Rail is expecting work near Hastings to overrun tomorrow morning up to around 8am. Below is the statement from NR and our website is being updated with what alternative we can provide, and will continue to be updated as the situation is confirmed overnight. www.southernrailway.com. This will also affect Southeastern.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, train services on the Hastings line will be disrupted tomorrow morning (Monday 28th November) owing to late running engineering works. Problems were encountered over the weekend while undertaking track renewal work in the Hastings area, and bus replacement services will run between Hastings and Ashford, Bexhill and Battle from the start of service on Monday, with some disruption expected throughout the day. Our engineers are working hard to complete the work as quickly and as efficiently as possible in order to keep disruption to a minimum. We’d like to apologise to passengers in the South East for the inconvenience and are advising people to check their journeys before they travel tomorrow at www.nationalrail.co.uk.”
