MLAG meeting re the proposed Javelin extension
As you will be aware, there were intended to be two presentations following the MLAG AGM on 3rd May, by Southern Railways and Network Rail. Because of the snap election being called, Network Rail were put into purdah until after the election and so their presentation had to be deferred. A summary of the Southern presentation and the following Q&A session can be found at http://www.ryenews.org.uk/news/southern-opens-up
We have now arranged for the Network Rail presentation to take place from 7pm (for 7.15pm) on Thursday 15 June at Rye Town Hall. The presenter is one of the authors of the Kent Area Route Study which was issued by Network Rail in March: this is a consultation document requiring responses by 30 June. From MLAG’s point of view, the main item in this Study relates to the proposed extension of the St. Pancras to Ashford Javelin service to Rye, Hastings and Bexhill (possibly also on to Eastbourne). The Study itself can be found at https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/long-term-planning/
To find the relevant documents, click on the link and scroll down to “South East planning” and then on to the various Kent Route Study documents.
There are extensive references in the Study to the works required to enable the Javelin service to operate on the MarshLink, most particularly in the Technical Appendix, Pages 19-37.
We hope you will be able to get to this meeting and add your voice, whether in favour of this development or not.
